Birds love to make their homes in gourds. All shapes and sizes can turn into a fabulous “Half-Pint Hacienda” for visiting feathered friends. Students will be able to choose from a wide variety of gourd shapes and sizes for their bird house. They will also learn to use a forstner bit to cut the proper size hole for the bird they hope to attract. Decorating the bird house can be simple and elegant or wild and fancy. Students will be encouraged ahead of class to draw a plan sketch for this project. Birds love color and we will use many safe, non-toxic colors to entice them to visit our gourd bird houses with their tiny families.
