I am honored to be selected for the second time as a visiting artist at the DeGrazia Museum in the Sun. The beautiful “Little Gallery” where Ted DeGrazia's painted in the desert is an amazing place to showcase my collection. Welcome to all of you who are able to join me here in November.
Gourds have been my primary working canvas since 2009. I drew upon earlier interests in woodworking and watercolor painting to support and fuel an entirely new way of creating fine art by unleashing beauty hidden in the fruits of one of earth's oldest, and most cultivated plants. I was still painting but on gourds instead of paper, and my tools began to include a huge variety of inks, dyes and pigments along with wood burners, saws, carvers, and clay. Best of all my imagination was free to soar in, around, and through a three-dimensional canvas.
