Students in this class will clean, cut, and shape a gourd of their choice into a vase, bowl, or container.  Once the gourd is prepared they will decorate with paints, ink dyes, beads, woven edges or simple focal points to complete the appearance of their "vessel".  This is a good class for practicing new and more complicated ways of finishing the surface of the gourd. Some xlarge gourd vessels have been used with photo transfers for special occasions and some with this type of treatment have made stunning  memorial urns.
